  • Condition: Good-Very Good overall antique cond: In glorious, absolutely 100% orig cond. Superb orig paint & w/no enhancements. The helmet's shell's devoid of dents, dings or other damage, although there's some minor-mod oxidation in areas on the surface. The helmet's only missing the orig leather int head harness & chin straps. In the notorious trenches of the WWI European theater, in the long, protracted struggle w/Imperial Germany in the barren, treeless stretches of 'no-man's land,' located in principally France & Belgium, often there were quite long stretches where there was no shelling or active combat & soldiers passed away the time by decorating spent metal shell casings & often their own issued helmets w/paint, often referred to as 'Trench Art.' This particular US Army doughboy 'YJ 144' is an excellent ex of this practice & a wonderful orig & auth WWI Trench Art artifact from the European theater. Only some minor-mod oxidation mars the paint. Outstanding & unadulterated. The real deal.
