    Description

Chinese Cultural Revolution Poster: Mao’s Marxist Thoughts on Educational Revolution
Chinese propaganda posters like this one usually had a large drawing of Mao’s head at the top with one of his quotes and his signature underneath. A rough translation:
To realize the proletarian educational revolution there must be leadership from the working class, the participation of the masses of workers, the cooperation of the PLA fighters, the students, teachers and workers of the school who are determined to carry the proletarian educational revolution through to the end and implement the revolutionary there-in-one combination. The worker’s propaganda team should stay in the school for a long time, participate in the all the school’s debates, criticize and change tasks and always lead the school. In the rural areas, the school should be managed by the most reliable ally of the working class.
This is an original Cultural Revolution era poster, these posters were never meant to last decades and considering its age it is in remarkably good condition. There is some minor yellowing from age. The poster was printed by the Tianjin People’s Fine Arts Publishing House. The store in Beijing that sold this poster always protected each poster with a plastic sleeve and it has been rolled up in a tube since the early 1990’s. The size of the poster is 30” x 20.75”.
I started traveling to China in 1982 and after many trips found a shop in Beijing that sold original Mao memorabilia.
A letter documenting the purchase will be included with the poster, a sample of the letter is attached.
