    Description

For Sale: A hand painted Chinese watercolor of women playing Chuiwan, a golf like game. This is not a print. We purchased it in China in 2000 and intended to hang it, but never did. The colors are absolutely stunning. The background is more golden and the grass is greener than it appears in the pictures The border is a green silk. Shipping it in the original container ( see pictures).

Chuiwan was a Chinese sport strikingly similar to modern golf. Early murals and literary references to the sport reveal that the aim of the game was to use a club to strike a ball into a target. References to the game from the 10th century suggest the ball was rolled into a shallow dish initially, but by the 11th century small holes in the ground replaced these dishes. https://healthandfitnesshistory.com/explore-history/history-of-golf/
