Description
This is a vintage poster, original date1966,size 21" x 30 1/2 inches, woodcut color printing of acid free, edited by the Rebel Campaign Army of Shanghai Red Guards. It titled Instead to Destroy an Old World, Create a New World. The poster based on the Destroy Four Olds movement, which was an early term of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The term started first in Beijing on June 1966 then spread quickly across the cities of China. This poster considered to be made by the team of a radical Shanghai Red Guards Group by reason to follow the Beijing's action.
The Four Olds which could be included that the Old Customs, Old Culture, Old Habits and Old Ideas. Instead the Red Guards attempted destroy the Four Olds, they also hoped of building the Four News as well as New Customs, New Culture, New Habits and New Ideas. It is a critical term of the early Chinese Cultural Revolution.
